Knowing that terracotta pots are the best for cacti and succulents, if I paint the outside of the pots will it affect its breathability? Thank you 🙂

Great question! Painting terra cotta does affect the pottery’s ability to breathe, but not enough that it will harm the plant.

Terra cotta and ceramic pots are great for planting in areas that don’t get a lot of air flow. If you have your succulents in an area of your home or garden that gets good air flow, painting it shouldn’t be a problem. If your pot has a drainage hole, and you’ve planted your succulent in well draining soil, you shouldn’t have much to worry about with decorating it.
