What is the best soil I should use, or that I can mix pumice with?

Soil is one of the most important ways you can keep your succulent happy! If you’re growing succulents indoors, I highly recommend this pre-mixed succulent soil from Bonsai Jack.

His soil was created from my favorite recipe for mixing up soil:

  • 1 Part Pine Bark Fines
  • 1 Part Turface (an absorptive rock)
  • 1 Part Crushed Granite

You can read all about why I love it here. The most important thing to remember when purchasing or mixing soil is to make sure your particle size is around 1/4″ (6 mm). This will ensure proper drainage.

If the options above don’t work for you, pumice can be added to more traditional potting soils to help increase drainage.

As long as it drains well (doesn’t stay wet for days on end) your succulents should be happy.
